I’m M.J., I’m the creator of The M.J. Elle, a Toronto lifestyle blog. I’m a born and raised Torontonian who grew up in the west end of the city.
I went to Humber College’s Fashion Institute in hopes to get into styling and creative direction. But I left school and ended up finding my way into a career in executive support spanning various industries including retail, finance and digital advertising.
I began creating visual content in late 2014 as a way to channel my creativity after a health issue put a stop on my career. By mid-2016 I started to get more questions on products, beauty routines, outfits and other content I was posting. I saw the need to create more than just visuals. I decided to start blogging that fall as a way to share even more content and recommendations with my friends and followers.
The M.J. Elle is a lifestyle blog based in Toronto, Canada with a focus on style, beauty, food & drink, home decor, and more. This is where I come to share all the things in my life I’m currently into. The M.J. Elle is also where I highlight the brands, products and services that I trust and love, while also being able to share my personal experiences and inspire my readers.
When I’m not at home writing, I’m out in the city checking out the latest restaurants and cafés. Or exploring Toronto’s neighbourhoods and architecture. But I also love a good night in and a glass of wine with my partner Peter and our two dogs Dolce and Tisci, catching up on the latest binge-worthy Netflix shows.

The Mjelle, Them Jelle…? It’s The M.J. Elle.
M.J. like Jordan (or Jackson, depending on my #mood) and Elle like the magazine. I wish I had a really crazy, creative story behind the name but the truth is, I don’t.
The M.J. Elle started as my social media handle in 2008-2009 that wasn’t taken and could be used across various platforms, while still remaining relevant to me. My full name is Marie-Joëlle Gabrielle, so I simply took my Initials M.J. and the ending of my middle name, Elle.
