Moisturizers are no doubt one of the most crucial parts of any skin care routine, next to cleansing and sun protection. No matter your skin type or concerns, everyone uses moisturizers to help keep their skin hydrated and look its best. Most don’t realize how important moisturizers are, and the issues that can arise in your skin when you skip on it. Asides from of course keeping your skin soft and hydrated, moisturizers can also help prevent aging, sun damage and keeps skin protected from external elements. But another big reason to use moisturizers daily is reducing breakouts. The biggest myth out there is oily skin causes breakouts, and while that is true it’s not the full truth. Acne occurs when when the oil glands produce an excess of sebum, which when combined with dead skin cells clogs pores and creates breakouts. If you deprive your skin from hydration, your skin will begin to overproduce sebum to moisturize the skin causing breakouts. That’s why it’s so important to keep your skin’s hydration levels balanced by using moisturizers.
If I’m being honest, shopping for moisturizers is probably harder than finding a needle in a haystack. There are so many different brands, formulas and price points that make it so confusing to find the right product for you. It took me years to find the right moisturizers that work for me, and even then as my skin and seasons change I’m constantly looking for new products to help with my skin concerns. While you shouldn’t be switching out your moisturizers too often because that causes confusion in your skin that could cause issues, you should be it out seasonally (spring/summer and fall/winter) and as your skin changes. When choosing moisturizers for you, it’s important that you first know your skin type and then determine what skin concerns or issues you’re looking to treat. To help guide you through this process, I’m sharing my top moisturizers that I’m currently using.

What I love about Jouviance’s 3D-Action Boost Cream for the summer is it’s a multi-use product for day, night and around the eyes so you don’t have to pack half your vanity while at the cottage. It also contains the retinol-like ingredient TightenylTM, so you don’t have to worry about the irritation and sun sensitivity from retinol, which is a bonus when looking for summer moisturizers.
