It’s been a while since I’ve put together a blog post. So I decided to get back into things with a summer beauty edit for 2021. For me my summer beauty routine is all about low maintenance, especially when it comes to my makeup. Thanks to the efforts I put into my skincare I like to take advantage of more makeup free days during the warmer months. Because there is nothing I hate more than feeling like my face is melting off during a heat wave!
I decided to throw together a list of some of my favourite summer beauty products that I know you’ll love. This list however doesn’t have a heavy focus on skincare. I’m saving those picks for a post coming out soon. But these are some of the top products I’m always reaching for in the summer – packed with both old and new favourites.
Summer Beauty Edit 2021
Anastasia Beverly Hills Shimmer Body Oil
This has got to be one of my top summer beauty products over the last few years. While I’m not usually a girl that’s into sparkle, I am totally obsessed with the ABH Shimmer Body Oil. It’s a lightweight formula that gives your skin the perfect glow for summer. The glitter specks aren’t too big so you don’t feel overwhelmed with the shimmer. I’m also in love with the sweet coconut/vanilla scent that just screams summer time.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir
One product that’s in my routine year round is Caudalie’s Beauty Elixir. This is probably one of the most versatile products I have in my skincare routine. It can be used as a face mist, toner, setting spray and to give yourself a little refresh throughout the day. It can even be used to give yourself an aromatherapy moment thanks to all the essential oils it contains. And because it contains peppermint oil it’s a great way to cool yourself off during a hot summer day.

dpHUE ACV Hair Rinse
I’ve never been someone who likes to wash their hair often. But after going to my natural hair colour after being blonde for so many years, I’ve noticed it gets oily way quicker than before. Mix this with working out daily and the summer, and it feels like I needed to wash my hair daily. That’s why when I decided to try the ACV Hair Rinse from dpHUE. It 100% works and I’ve now gone down to shampooing 3 times a month!
Shop: dpHUE ACV Hair Rinse, available at Sephora, $44
Issey Miyake A Drop D’Issey
My skincare routine isn’t the only thing that changes with the seasons. I always rotate the fragrances I wear based on the seasons, especially since I embarrassingly own way too many. For the summer, I love fresh and bright scents that work well with the heat. Usually I don’t gravitate towards floral perfumes but recently I was gifted Issey Miyake’s A Drop D’Issey and I haven’t been able to stop wearing it. It’s a Damask Rose based fragrance that is perfectly rounded off with notes of Almond Milk, Musk and Vanilla.

NARS Glow Tinted Booster
NARS is usually my go-to brand when it comes to a base. In generally I prefer going as lightweight as I can with my foundation and usually wear tinted moisturizers. But in the summer sometimes I want something even more sheer, that’s why I love the NARS Glow Tinted Booster. It’s a versatile product that can be used to add a glow as a base to your foundation, or can be worn on it’s own.
Shop: NARS Glow Tinted Booster, $50
Chanel Beauty Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care
Winter is usually the time we’re all dealing with chapped lips. But most people don’t realize dry hot days mixed with nights sleeping with the air conditioning, isn’t any better. I started keeping my Chanel Hydra Beauty Nourishing Lip Care next to my bedside and using it every night before sleeping. I’m usually not a fan of lip balms in containers (thanks long nails) but this one is worth the struggle, and price tag.

Radford Beauty Pearl Highlight Stick
If I am wearing makeup in the summer I like creamy and lightweight formulas. This is because they lessen the odds that your face turns into a hot, sweaty and cakey mess. That is why I love Radford Beauty’s Foundation Sticks and specifically the Pearl Highlight Stick. It literally melts into your face for a dewy glow whether you’re wearing foundation, tinted moisturizer or are bare faced. It’s also extremely buildable so you can take it from a dewy glow to a bold highlight depending on your look.

Oil Tycoon NCT Heavy Blend Hair Oil
After years of short and medium length hair, I’ve decided to fix all my damage and grow it out. I started using Oil Tycoon’s NCT Heavy Blend Hair Oil on days I’m washing my hair and I’ve noticed such a difference. This is a scalp oil you apply at least 30 minutes before you shower that helps with hair growth thanks to it’s unique oil blend. The formula is a family recipe that promotes hair and scalp health which helps to grow strong, healthy hair.

NARS Air Matte Blush
The newest product in my makeup kit is the Air Matte Blush by NARS. It’s no secret that NARS is one of my favourite makeup brands, and they never seem to disappoint. The Air Matte Blush is a creamy, lightweight and buildable formula which is great to take from day to night in the summer. Once applied it transforms into a velvety powder finish. I love the variety of colours it comes in, including the iconic Orgasm. And I’ve even been using the nude and bronze shades as a lighter alternative to a contour.
Shop: NARS Air Matte Blush, $39
Caudalie Vinofresh Natural Deodorant
I’ve been using natural deodorants for quite some time, and I was so excited when my favourite skincare brand Caudalie came out with theirs! It has 98% natural ingredients with aloe vera and grape seed water, that works to hydrate and keep your under arm skin healthy. And it has a fresh eucalyptus scent that actually works to keep you smelling fresh.
Now you might not think you should switch to natural deodorant in the summer, but hear me out. You’re already sweating more in the summer than in the winter so you’re probably showering more. This also means you can get rid of all the toxins faster which helps regulate your body and transition to a natural deodorant.
Shop: Caudalie Vinofresh Natural Deodorant, $18.50
